Froglet questions

Nykole Jan 20, 2004 06:05 PM

My tadpole(most likely bullfrog) just got his front legs last night/this morning. Im pretty sure they're completely out. Hes in a tank with paper towels and a water bowl. Can he breathe air? He hops in and out of his water bowl. When do I feed him? I have pinhead crickets being 'gutloaded' right now and will be dusted. Please reply soon!

Hey,
If the tadpole ONLY has its back legs then no it cannot breath air the way it should, and should be put back into the water. Until it develops back and frount legs, takes the appearance of a frog, and its tail begins to shrink it should be left in the water. The tadpole will not eat when it absorbs its tail (or will eat very little). You dont really need to take it out of water at all, well thats if its a bullfrog. Some ppl keep bulls completely aquatic, because it easy to clean and bull frogs do well being kept this way.

sorry for soem reason I thought you were talking about its back legs. Has the tadpole/froglet started absorbing tis tail yet? How much of the tail is left?

Nykole Jan 21, 2004 02:18 PM

It has about 2 inches of tail left. Before he started morphing he was 4 inches.
Thansk for the reply,

Hey
Wait till the tail is completely gone because that is what he is "feeding" on right now. When the tail is gone or there is just a tiny stub left throw in some food!

Hope I helped a bit!
