Has anyone had any issues with their collareds injuring themselves on a cactus? I use plastic plants right now (which look fine after they get dusty from the sand) and I've used other real plants as well, but I've not used cacti because I'm concerned my guys and girls will stick themselves.

I wouldn't use any that have the sharp needles on them. I've used Haworthia (not sure if I spelled that right) and Aloe. Here's a picture of what Haworthia looks like:

You can use a cool Jade plant too ! But I agree with David I would never use a spiney or needle- y one ! Ouch :0) Eve

find them in the wild with thorns burried in their legs. I would stick to succulents with no thorns to be safe.
