Should i bring my black throat to the vet.

flpsk8119 Jan 20, 2004 07:17 PM

I have a 2 foot black throat that used to eat great but just all of the sudden realy slowed down eating. Some times i will drop a mouse in and it will walk right up to my bt's face and he will just shut his eyes. He never realy even eats right away anymore. The mouse will just sit in his cage and i'll come back later and it will be gone. ive had him for about a month and a half, but ive know him for almost six and it never acted like this befor. I was thinking it may have a parasite but are those even signs of a parasite. He is in a 4 foot long cage. His temps are basking: between 130-150 i dont know the exact temp because i just have a dial thermomoter and it doesnt go up that high. right neer the basking spot it is 100. After that hot spot the temps decrees to room temp, which is around 68. By decrease i mean the temps gradualy get lower. I shouldn't have said he i am not sure of the sex. If anyone can help me please do i am getting a little woried.

You cant use an ambient thermometer to read surface temps accurately, because they are way off. You could have 200f basking temps or 85f and never know it. It seems the first thing Id adjust is the temps (exact surface, ambient warm end, etc), when a monitor is puking it cant digest its food in 24 or so hours so it must get rid of it to prevent the food from poisoning it, on top of that the animal is lazy sick and that stinks worse than almost anything when they puke. Being the temps across the country have recently dropped consideribly Id say the temps are the biggest culprit. They are hard to get right when the weather changes in extreme ways.
