I have limited experince with Reds, but in my experince Reds eat more fruits than Arg. B&W. Most tegus like bananas, and mangos, red grapes, I have heard of people feeding starwberries but my B&W just spits them right out. as for a ratio during the months when my tegu is active I feed him as many rats as he'll eat 3 times a week and a fruit salad 2-3 times a week.

I have an adult b&w that will only eat mice and nothing else. My red refuses, absolutely refuses, to eat any kind of fruit at all. This was really stressing me out in the beginning. I feed him mice and baby quail that are supplemented with Miner-All every other feeding (which is like every other day) and he seems to be just fine. He has been vet checked a couple of times now because of his refusal to eat any fruit and has come out with a clean bill of health. This is just my experience and I in no way suggest you not to supplement diet with fruit for your red tegu. It has been my experience with other red and b&w tegus that they savor strawberries, mango, oranges, and sometimes grapes. Good luck.

Santiago would not eat fruit either. So what I did is did the fruit in blended hard bioled egg and a little water to liquify the egg . it works great . Santiago eats 2kiwis and 1 apricot evey fruit meal . Russ
