My neighbor recieved a turtle via UPS and he was wondering how long till it will want to eat. He has never got a turtle this way before. My turtle took 2 days is that about right? turtle is 5 months old

It completely depends on the turtle. Some will not care and eat immediately, and others will not eat until they feel more safe and have settled in to their environment more. If he doesn't want to eat for several days yet, don't be surprised. You might want to float some veggies and other foods in his tank. This way he can eat when he is ready and has food available. I wouldn't try to feed him in a separate tank yet, if you are planning to do that...it will just add more stress and trauma and make it harder for him to get used to his new surroundings. Wait until he is eating regulary and eagerly.

WHY is anyone shipping a turtle this time of year? Although it might depend on from where and to where the turtle was shipped, this is still a VERY dangerous time to be shipping. I will not ship after October 1st, unless under very unusual circumstances.
