What supplements are YOU using?

Spankenstyne Jan 20, 2004 08:37 PM

So i've decided i need to go the diggable dirt but in doing so i'm changing a fair amount of my enclosure.Part of this process will be getting rid of the mercury UV bulb and using a halogen on a dimmer switch.I like the idea of a little more control over the heat this way, especially come summertime.

Now this also means i want to be supplementing D3 now with the lessened amount of readily available UVB.I still have my Iguanalight 5.0 but anyways, his main "hot" basking spots will be under the halogen.

Now i was looking at the pet store and couldn't find any "miner-all" or whatever but i did see some Fluker Farms supplements, some Rep Cal and a few others.

What are you guys using and what do you guys recommend and feel most confident with?

I had been using some oyster shell calcium pills i bought that are just all calcium.I'd crush em up into a powder, and mix in some centrum multivitamins that i also had crushed up and that was my supplement once in a while. Before you laugh at me it was inexpensive and my research into it leads me to believe that it's pretty much the same things we're buying for just more money, except for the usable D3 of course. It wasn't an issue imo before since i had UVB coming from everywhere in there as best i could.

Anyways i'd love to hear what you guys recommend

I supplement with the t-rex snadfire superfoods Uromastyx formula at every feeding. It is a complete food in powder form. It has both Macro(protein, carbs, fats) and micro(vitamins and minerals) nutrients. It contains the same amount of d3/kilo of dry product as minerall-I and is safe for daily usage.
good luck

I've been using Minerall 1 and adding a little veggie flavored calcium with it (ectother calcium veggie twist)

I've found a great way to get my uros to eat their vitamin sprinkled food with gusto. I take some bee pollen granules mixed with the minerall and calcium powder and put it in a coffee bean grinder and grind to a fine powder. This seems to really make the vitamin sprinkled food much more appetizing to them.

I get mine from a local bee keeper .... there is probably one or two in your area if you look. You can probably get it online also. I prefer to use the raw granules and grind them myself instead of using the processed powder type found in stores. Just like in freshly ground coffee .... when you grind the bee pollen granules it is much more fragrant and tasty which really attracts the uros.

I get the raw granules from the health food store - look in the refrigerated section by the vitamins.
