Friendly geckos

I am constantly amazed at the interaction that my geckos seem to like to have with me. Two of my three leos walk over when they see me and solicit attention. They like to walk into my hand and then crawl up my arm to my shoulders. They will stay there for a good while and make no effort to bolt away. I am working with the third female, who is huge, but a runner. She won't bite, but so far prefers not to be held. We are making progress to the point that she will not run after she is in my open palm and will sit with her belly flat in the palm, absorbing the heat. It shouldn't be too long before she requests to be held like the others. Great pets! RR

I hope i get to experience that someday. My first gecko i've had for six months and she still darts to a hide when i walk in my room. Its extremely frustrating. My new patternless seems really active though.

It only takes time and will almost certainly give you the same results. Just put your hand in the tank and slowly position yur hand under the leo so that he/she will have to walk into or over your hand. If need be, remove some of the furniture and use two hands, palm up. The main thing is to move super slowly and not be threatening. Soon they will discover that you are not trying to eat them. That is the first hurdle and after that it goes fairly quickly. You will find that they will stick their heads out fo the hides when they hear you and will walk over to get your attention. I'm looking forward to working with my big girl more. She originally was absolutely wild and couldn't be even touched. I removed the furniture and worked with her so that now, she will tolerate basking in my palm. She's coming around very well. Extremely rewarding having these neat creatures completely having trust in you! Good Luck! RR

Yeah, i know. Tried all that. Tried everything in the book for 4 months and i've explained this a couple times on here so i'm being very vague. The gecko is calm in my hand is calm with my hand in the tank but is just not social. Thats the only reason i decided to buy two more. Things are going well so far, with the exception of my albino, but like i said, i'm getting a replacement for it free of charge.
