hot females and dud males???

restlesswind444 Jan 21, 2004 02:43 AM

i have been told that leos that were heat sexed to be males and turned out as females (i.e. "hot females" ) will not breed as well as other females and will tend to be more vivacious and resist the males sexual advances, does anyone have any experience with this or know if it is true?

i have also been told that heat sexed females that turn out as males will tend to be "duds" and typically not make sexual advances toward females...any opinions on this?

thanks

i know this can be true for other reptile species that are temperature sex regulated. a friend of mine did a thesis on crocodilians and hormones, and she told me how alligators that have their temperature-regulated sex reversed (it's not actually reversed per se, but people use the term 'sex reversal') via hormone treatments, act exactly how you say in mating interactions (i.e., the males are lame and the chicks are to feisty for normal males, and will even attempt breeding behaviors with normal females, sometimes). cool, eh?
