butter snake, difficult feeder

chrystal Jan 21, 2004 09:37 AM

I recently acquired a three month old butter corn snake. It has been very difficult trying to get it to eat regularly. It may eat (f/t) two times (every 5 days) in a row, but then not eat for two weeks.

I have heard that butters can be tough to get feeding regularly. I have tried splitting the pinkies, but even that doesn't entice her.

Does anybody have any "tried and true" methods, or is this possibly a snake that will eventually die because it refuses to eat?

Thanks, for any additional information you can provide.

Is it still eating though?

Even if it goes 2 weeks without food, it will still be okay. It could go more than that if it had too.

One of my friends snakes would only eat every 24 days for the first few months he had it. It did fine while on this schedule.
