We finally put the two male/female together and they started fighting...within 5 minutes the male had the female's tail in his mouth...they get very aggressivwe with each other...is this normal breeding behavior???
What should we do???

I highly doubt this is normal breeding behaviour. Did you put the male into the female's cage or vise versa? It sounds more like a territorial fight than anything. I would separate them now to ensure neither seriously hurts the other.

Wait a few days for both to recover from the bad encounter (longer if there are any wounds that need healing etc.) I would introduce them together in a completely separate and new environment this way neither would feel like they have to defend their territory from the other. Watch closely and see if they act aggressively again.

Also, are you 100% positive you have one male and one female? If both are male then that would be why they are fighting.

I am not sure if the above is the best advice since I don't have much experience with crested geckos yet but this method is often recommended for bearded dragons.
