I have read several posts about mite problems and I thought I would pass on this idea that I use. I have a fairly large (although shrinking) collection of rare, dwarf succulant plants from Africa and Madagascar. That is to say that is their natural habitat. They are grown from seed in the USA.

Anyway, mites are everywhere (as they always are, plants or not). This is the room where I keep my Anole. Too keep mites from getting to your tanks, Put a small amout of glue that is used for sticky glue traps (you can get this stuff from plant places, nurseries, etc) somewhere on the legs of your table or stand. The mites can't cross it.

One word of warning. It must be in a spot where your reptile can't get at it in case of an escape otherwise it will get stuck and then you are in deep you know what. BTW, this method will not help regarding mites that you may introduce to your tanks. I think it may be a good method for protecting eggs. Line a tray with it and put your container with the eggs in it.
