Need help with house gecko

CookieSnCreaM Jan 21, 2004 01:06 PM

I'm not sure how much my gecko should be eating. He's only eaten one cricket and I've had him for 3 nights. I've put crickets in there but they're all still there. How often and how much should my house gecko be eating?

If you've only had it for three nights, I wouldn't worry about it. After two weeks, maybe. As long as it still looks "filled out" (i.e. not skin and bones) it's probably OK (barring other factors).

I've put crickets in there but they're all still there.

Now THIS I would change. If the gecko didn't eat them, I'd remove the crickets and try again in a couple of days by just putting a couple of crickets in the cage with it. It's been said that having the food source remain in the cage if the lizard isn't hungry may induce stress (think of a human trying to get some shuteye with a pizza walking all over him! I'd be stressed out too!).
