thinking of getting a chitra chitra

does anybody thinks they are worth the efford?is it very hard to get and how much does a hatcling normaly cost?

well, apparently water quality is a huge thing with them. Without pristine perfect water, you get sick turtles.

More importantly, though, you do realize that the people farming these are having eggs laid by FOUR FOOT females. FOUR FEET is a lot of turtle. This is not something you can keep in an aquarium. Unless you have an indoor pool or live in the tropics with an outdoor pool or pond, this species is probably not one to consider a pet.

Chitra are a cool species but don't get a little one. They are hard to keep alive unless they are 4 inches or above...and anything over 10 inches has a lot better chance of survival. Whatever you do, do NOT get a hatchling! These are imported illegally and most of them come in "accidentally" with shipments of fish. These little guys have an almost 100% death rate. I made the mistake of getting 8 of them last year...it was a very expensive lesson. --Maxx
