Gutload/environment for superworms

StarGecko Jan 21, 2004 05:03 PM

Hi I just got 500 supers and am wondering if I can use the same gutload as I use for mealies. When I buy them a a local herp store they pack them in dirt for some reason, these came with some carrot pieces.

Anyone have any tips on keeping these?

Yes you can keep them same as mealworms. I keep mine in a rolled oats, wheat bran, mixture. I also add carrot slices and other veggies and they do fine. I order mine medium size and have them last 6 months before I used them all. You just CAN NOT put them in the fridge, keep them at room temp or higher if you want them to grow faster.

In the same container? Or will they eat them?

I kept Super Worms at a time, but they seemed more prone to eat each other if their moisture source was depleted. So if they'd eat eachother, they would find a smaller mealworm a welcomed treat.
