You will find little to no information anywhere on the internet concerning the captive care of Callagurs (i.e. no caresheets exist at this time). They are a relatively easy species to keep if you have the space and the food. They are large, messy aquatic turtles. They generally do very well in captivity given that their needs are met. They have been captive bred for the pet trade for 2 years in a row now at a facility in Florida. There were about 80 babies available this year. They are one of my personal favorites.

There's really only one resource avaialble on the web but its old and it isn't very useful:

Callagurs at the Bronx Zoo from CTTC

But now that there are captive bred offspring (one source only) there should start to be a larger community of people keeping them and eventually more information will arise.

They are one of my favortites too.

Right now there are only a few keepers out there.I've been keeping most of those guys since they were hatchlings. There were 77 Callagurs and 11 orlitias.I bought 2 orlitias as soon as they came available.Cool turtles with ravenous appetites. They seem to prefer slightly saline water. And they are avid baskers. They eat mostly romaine, but will take pellets. They show no interest in any type of protien.I've offered fish, chopped beefheart,as well as chopped shrimp. No takers.

These guys are completely new,and so far have been easy to keep.Their setup mirrors that of a redeared slider.Clean water, basking spot, and a good meal.
