Males monkey tree frogs

alevicop Jan 21, 2004 06:45 PM

Yesterday I saw my two Phyllomedusa burmeisteri "amplexed". I thought I had two males, as they had dark brown "pads" on their thumbs, which I assumed to be nuptial pads. Is it a common behaviour? Or, maybe I have a male and a female?I'd be very thankfull with any help!
Thank's!

Was there any type of release call made? Check them for nuptial pads too. Good luck breeding them, are you in South America? Thanks,

I've heard a kind of "wonk" from one of them(maybe the amplexed), and I think that sound could be a release call, as the advertisement call is diferent.
I've also seen dark brown pads on the thumbs of both of them , maybe nuptial pads.
I live in South America, actually, I'm brazilian.
Thank's
