need basilisk info and or breeders

kyle1414 Jan 21, 2004 07:32 PM

For a couple of months ive been looking at different types of lizards and i like basilisks and savanas the best. The problem is.. ive found very little info on them. also i can not find any breeders. i have had great success with anolis, one lived 4 yrs until another drowned him, and leopard frogs. If anyone could help me on what cage size or diet that would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has had them how difficult are they? Compatibility with other reptiles?

Both savannah monitors and basilisks have very specific housing and feeding requirments.

Basilisks have the same housing requirments as water dragons, they need a varied diet including whole prey items (pinky mice) as well as insects (meal worms and crickets).

Savannah monitors need an extremely large enclosure and have an even more intense diet than basilisks. Savannah's will need to be fed a strict diet when they get older because they become obese very easily. There a very lazy lizard and need to be fed correctly or they get real fat.

Just do a search on google for care of either you'll pull up alot of info.
