Het is short for heterozygous. It refers to the presence of two genes at the same loci on different chromosomes that relate to the same characteristic. Or in plain english a het animal is an animal that carries a gene for a particular recessive trait but does not display that trait.

when some humans carry the muscular dystrophy gene/trait? I know in humans, someone can carry it and not have it. But in order to have a child with MD, their partner also has to carry the gene/trait. (sorry, don't know if the right word is gene, trait, chromosome, etc.)

BTW, I don't know what "het" means? And does the gene show, then, when that dragon mates with another dragon with that recessive gene?
