More Gratuitous Pics of D. Ventrimaculatis

Homer1 Jan 21, 2004 08:55 PM

Okay, I just couldn't pass up taking a pic of these guys last night curled up on their pothos leaf. Not the best of pics, but it's a cute shot. My wife has named my four vents Eenie, Meenie, Minie, and Moe. Which three these are is anyone's guess. I still haven't got them mapped out and figured out. Maybe this pic will help me.

All I have to say about vents is if you get some, make sure you have some good cultures of springtails going, because they will eat springtails nonstop!

Thanks, Tony. I'm excited about getting these guys moved over to my new tank. I have the misting system up and running, and need to get a computer fan going on the thing as well to keep the orchids happy. As soon as I get the screen put over the vent holes as the top, and a decent springtail population up and running, I think I'm putting these little guys in.

Now that's a Kodak moment! Great pics, Homer. By the way, parents have 4 "Oscars" (fish) with the same 4 names

Oscars with the same name, huh? Now that's the long and the short of it! My dad has 6 albino tiger oscars that he's raising, too. As for me, I think I'm lost to the frog keeping now, never to go back to my earlier days of fish (we always say that, but . . .).

Homer,
Very nice pic of the vents.I hear you on the fish thing.I have a 10g with shell dwelling cichlids I can't seem to sell off. They are part of my family now and watching them move sand to bury their shells is still a treat.

Thanks. Cichlids in a 10 gallon, huh? It's a good thing they aren't pink convicts . . . otherwise you'd have several new additions to your "family" every 6 weeks. My dad has always liked cichlids, and they have a lot of personality. I was really into killifish, but also used to breed cardinal tetras, white clouds, and tetras.

I've got to say, though, dart frogs definitely take the cake. And they don't rearrange the plants and landscaping like some of the larger cichlids (of course, I don't have terribilis). LOL.
