CORAL???

patoquack Jan 21, 2004 10:19 PM

I need some help..
I have this nice albino and I'm not sure if it is a coral or if this color is a result of the suriname influence? She was a very normal baby albino when I purchased her but she has gradually started pouring out the colors.

any thoughts???

thanks,
Patrick

Its looking very coral and most likley is one. Thats the good news now the bad news is you wont know if its the genetic coral line until it breeds true. Corals have been produced from insane corals and then the ones we guessed were corals. I will say that the gentics are most likely in your favor.

thanks for the feedback everyone.. I'm learning.

One question I still have is.. what affect does the 1/8th suriname blood have on this whole "coral" thing? Can a BCI that has been tainted with BCC blood still be a true coral?

thanks again.

My understanding is yes the coral line was bred into the bci line. So yes the coral line can enhace the suriname cross. Remember that the coral line seems to br resessive though so it may take another generation to see it.
I dont think that the coral gene is recessive at all I think its the pastel gene which is dominant. Boa gentics are just now being tapped so we will see what comes of it over time.
