My veiled finally layed her eggs!!!

Gidyen39 Jun 06, 2003 01:03 PM

My female veiled had been gravid for 35 days and I started to get worried she was egg bound. Well this morning she buried her nest. After digging hole after hole she found just the right spot I guess. It took awhile to dig them out but well worth it. 39 beautiful eggs!! I was shocked to say the least! Any incubating tips would be great! They are on moist vermiculite buried 1/2 way. 1/2 are in an incubator the others in the closet.

how far down did she dig? how deep/wide is your dirt? in general how long do they stay gravid before laying? thanks so much!

This is my first clutch of veiledeggs. She was gravid 35 days and it took about 18-24 hours to dig the hole and lay then bury the eggs. I used a 5 gallon bucket and filled it with 5 inches of peat moss/ sand mixture. She dug all the way to the bottom and layed the eggs there. Hope this helps!
