Garter snake behavior

zach Jan 22, 2004 08:14 AM

Hey-
I am a freshman in college this year and i am an pre-vet/animal science major. And the class I am taking this semester is animal behavior and we have to write a 5 page term paper on any animal behavior topic. And I wanted to do garter snakes, not sure which topic in general, but I was wondering if there was alot of info, or well atleast enough for 5 pages, on the behavior of garter snakes? Thanks.

Zach

I think there are a variety of topics involving Garter Snake behavior that may be suitable for your paper. You might want to look into the relativly unique behaviors of mass hibernations and breeding that have been documented in certain locations, primarily Canada. Defensive behavior might be another area where you might find published information.
