Once you have a snake especially a rattler or some thing poisonous behind the head holding it with your hand how do you release it without having it coming back and biting you on the hand?

ummmmm............ Carefully??

Seriously, the best policy is to not pick venomous critters up with your hands EVER as;

1. it's dangerous

2. it can hurt the animal

and 3. if you have a legitamate reason to be handling said animal, there are generally better options then pinnig and lifting (tubes, etc.).

On the rare occasion I do handle behind the head, I release by making a short drop to a VERY padded surfice taking care to hold the head and tail and to let go to both ends at once, push away from me and pulling my hands back right away.

If you’re asking this question, I certainly hope you are not picking, or planning to pick one up. Do you currently have one in your hands now that you don’t know how to get put down ? Drop it at knee high elevation in brush and pull your hand away quickly!!!
