Classic Debate "Argus vs. an Argus Cross," any suggestions?

vakejairam Jan 22, 2004 03:11 PM

Hi Everyone,

So here I am debating between an argus or a cross. I'm sure many of you have had the same difficult dilemma. I've researched them a lot and it's a difficult decision. I attended a reptile show this past weekend in hopes of seeing them both, but there was only one baby argus present.

I've read contradicting statements on both of these species. I would really appreciate responses from people with first-hand experience with both. I've read that argus monitors typically grow to be 3.5 to 5 feet. Would a cross be larger in size than this?

I've contacted Frank, at Goanna Ranch, and bugged him about his crosses. Frank if you read this, I may contact you again....it's warming up a bit in the Northeast.

Vake J.

p.s. To everyone who has contacted me via email, I really appreciate your input on this

First off, let me say that I love Argus, they were the first species that I bred. But they can not hold a candle to a cross, they are smaller have a better temperment and are more attractive in both color and pattern, but retain all that is good in an Argus (Shape, intelligence, tri-podding etc). Well thats my 2 cents.
