T+ Albino Boas ???

Albinoretic.com Jan 22, 2004 03:13 PM

I recently saw Burkes reptiles pics of his T+ albino boas and I must say they are truly unique animals and I wanted to get an idea of what the rest of the world thinks. Is there intrest in them what are they worth and what is their future. I know VPI has some also and the Argentine but Burkes looks very diffrent then the VPI one but similar to the argentine. Which lineage would be the best to go for.

I LOVE THEM BOTH! Tom's are CA's and Tracy's are Colombian. They definitely have different looks about them. You can read all about each on their respective websites and it sounds like you have. I have two pair of CA 100% T-pos hets from Jeremy Stone's male which is a brother to Tom's. I can't wait for these little rascals to grow up In the meantime, I love looking at my Colombians T's. They are so much prettier in "snake" than in these shameless "Proud Mom" pics

Or is it deep purple???

This pic is my male who is a yearling. He doesn't have any of what I would call "black" on him at this time. He does have some dark rimming on his tail markings and it looks brownish under bright lights and a magnifying glass. There is another rim in there that some people refer to as "Lavender". To me, it looks sort of transparent purple-greyish. His little speckles are brown and his base color is a creamy yellow cheesecake color.

She is turning VERY CORAL!! She has shed since this pic and is even more peachy colored or coral. It will be interesting to see what she does as she matures. Right now, she is the most amazing eye candy (for me)!!! I love looking at her.

Does anybody know if a representative of the Burke's Reptiles line has been bred to a representative of the VPI line? For all I know, they may be different genes.

Paul, I am the only one who has successfully produced babies from the Central American T possitive. There are only 5 T postives that we know of. I own 2 males, and Tom Burk owns 2.1. So, there are very few. I bred one of my males to 2 females this year. One to a CA female, and another a Can Cun CA female. That has been the only successful production of this T possitive line so far. The male was only 18 months so it was also quite early to be producing them too. Tom posted some Pics of his Male and Female (Brother/Sister) breeding this year so this could be the First year that Any T possitives will be produced in true Recessive form. So, to answer your question, it hasn't been done. I don't think I will even try. Both lines are soo unique, I don't think it would be necessary to try to "Prove" them genetically compatible. I personally wouldn't think they are, but that is just my opinion. I do believe both lines are quite opposite from eachother but both are EXTREEMLY awesome. The Barkers line is Columbian, and the T possitive (Burk/Stone/whatever) line is Central American. Yes, both are Boa Constrictor Imperator, but they are TOTALLY different. We do know that both are Recessive. The pics Linda posted are just AWESOME of her Columbian T positives. As you can see they are have some Strong variances. Just from one to the other looks extreemly different, but yet the same. WAY COOL if you ask me. I don't think the Central Line is that varying but there are only 5 to date. We'll see down the road. There are many exciting projects to come from both lines, and it will be really fun to see them in the future put into different Pattern or Color mutations. Take Care, Jeremy Stone

I just got a new computer so I don't have an FTP file transfer yet. I would put up some pics of the T possitive Central breeding a CA Motley and a Leopard. It think those will be AWESOME. I'll post them later.

The T hets are really growing now. I plan to take some pics of them soon. Three of them are really getting some reds, oranges, and bronzes - and look very COOL!!

Tom Burke Jan 24, 2004 11:38 AM

I'm sorry I don't get on here as much as I should but anyone can e-mail me or call with any questions if you would prefer. The obvious difference between the Barker's and Burke/Stone T positives is the Barker's are Colombians and mine are Nicaraguan. Genetically I believe they won't be compatible as the Barker's T pos appears to develop melanin with maturity to varying degrees while mine do not. That alone seems to be enough reason to not even try to see if the genes ara compatible as it would be counter-productive(in my opinion!) While both types of T pos are beautiful animals they are genetically different from at least the standpoint of "leaky" gene and "null" gene type. Melanin leaking in with maturity is fairly common in T positive mutations and it has been dubbed as the "leaky" gene. Less common is the "null" gene T pos which never develops any melanin. I think they are 2 distinctly different mutations (although still T positives) with differing breeding potentials.
As Jeremy stated in a lower post, the genetics are definitely recessive but there's more to the story. I bred one of my male T pos in 2003 to an unproven type 2 anery and produced what looks like more anery's that are 100% het for T pos albino. The only person that has seen them ( Vin Russo ) believes them to be anery as well. I just don't know and am unwilling to come to any conclusions until I'm able to breed them back to see what they produce! (it was too small a litter to come to any conclusions IMHO)
As of right now, the female T pos still has not ovulated but it's still early for me here in NY. I have my fingers crossed and with any luck hope to have the first litter of "Null" gene T positives during the summer of 2004! LOL

Awesome Tom, I had NO idea you bred yours. That is VERY strange you got what you may think are T poss. There has been a lot of speculation about some of the Anerys that are Type 2 to be Dominant in some sort of form. Unless your T poss (which is brother to mine is recessive) I don't know how that could happen. I'm very excited to see those. Send me some pics or give me a buzz or your number. I would love to chat about those. Anyway, I did breed one of my males this year to a Type 2, but I know for sure she is a recessive Type 2, so that wouldn't happen in this situation. I wonder if there are A lot of different compatible lines in the Type 2's out there. I believe there are some. Anyway, BEST OF LUCK with that Female. I get weak in the knees when I see that breeding an ONLY dream I had the female you have. Take Care, Jeremy Stone
