New Heat Temps ok?

cito Jan 22, 2004 04:02 PM

My new PH-1 88 watt 12"x24" pro products heat panel has been up and running for a full day now. I cant seem to get the temps above 89.1 on the hot end, and 74.6 at the cool end. The panel has been running on non stop. Are these temps ok?

I know everyone thinks im too young to answer itellegant questions...but here goes.....try what i do... put a small space heater about 2 feet away from the cool side on the outside of the cage...this will bring it up to around 80 and the hot side might go up to around 91 or 92 believe me it works...also could yopu tell me how much you payed for your specific heat panel.

Burmking, your idea is not bad but Cito just needs to beware that entire collections have been lost due to space heaters malfuctioning. Even though many of these heaters have built in thermostats, you still run the risk of a tragedy. So, hook these devices up to a secondary backup thermostat, and, replace at least once a year (that gets expensive but well worth it). Ambient temps play a big role as to what heating device you need to use. We use pro product heat panels almost exlusively, however, when some of our herp room fall below an optimal ambient air temp, we add an additional thermostatically controlled heat pad (made for reptiles). Perhaps just adding a small UTH connected to a thermostat on the cool side(making sure there is a little space between the pad and the cage and surface it rests on, will do the job....probably a lot safer than a space heater. Hope this helps.

Listen man, I have been the one to stand up for you and support you and try to help you out more than anyone but then you go and upset me. Everytime I answer one of your questions you go ahead and ask these good people the exact same question and make it seem like my answers are not good enough. And furthermore you should not being giving advice and this has absolutley nothing to do with your age but solely with your experience level. you have none. You need to stop posting mundane questions and start trying to find out your own answers. In less time than you can log into this forum and type out your illegible questions and wait for one or two constructive posts in return you could have gone to the appropriate website and found out all the information first hand. How difficult is it to go to Pro-products website and deal directly with them about the things like cost and what size. Wouldn't they honastly be the ones to talk to about that specific information. you are a young kid and you are developing a lazy, lackaqaisical attitude about your herps. you need to take a real forward approach about them and not jsut expect everyone else to give you all the answers. that is not how life is supposed to work. Please take my advice and stop wasting everybodies time with the pointless questions that can be found easily elsewhere, and do not try to give advice becasue honastly you have absolutley no experience. Todd
