Thats all my plastic shoe boxes look like.
Paper towel for substrate.
Moist humid hide (a ziploc container)
water dish
mealworm dish with calcium in the bottom

if I do add another dish of calcium if I dont put it in the mealie dish then I just place a small juice cap of calcium in there.

They'll be fine with just that. They'll either sleep in the humid hide, on top of it, or some of them will hide under the paper towels.

Hey LeoLover do you know of any calcium supplement readily available that doesn't have D3? I hear bad stories about it if used frequntly

aliceinwl Jan 22, 2004 06:35 PM

I've used Rep-cal with vitamin D3 for the last 5 years and haven't had any problems. Prior to that I used a brand (don't remember the name) that didn't have the D3 and had some of my young ones come down with mild MBD manifested by slight bowing of the fore arms. That's when I made the switch. It halted progression of the disease and I haven't had another case since.

As far as I've read, Jurasical (sp?) doesn't have d3 or phosphorus. That's why I haven't used it and continue to use Minerall

d3 is the "vitamin" that is produced when the skin(or scales) are exposed to natural sunlight. The uv in the light triggers a chemical reaction in the body the ulimatley ends with d3. The d3 is necessary for calcium to be used by the body....bone growth.
