We bit the bullet and got a new baby! (pics inside)

Thanks to everyone here that talked to me and gave me advice. In the end we decided to get a blood red baby from Dragon's Den.

It arrived this morning. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, but I think we're naming it Domo. It's just to cute for words! Already showing some brilliant oranges in it's color. And it's so sweet, it just let me hold it for such a long time and not even a fuss, very trusting.

I've never raised a beardie from a baby before, it should be fun. So far I just plan on treating it like I treat my 3 year old dragon, except with a 70/30 insect/veggie ratio, rather than 30/70. That and everything is smaller, but I've got the same lighting, temps, vitamins, etc. If anyone has any other advice about raising babies please chime in. I'm very excited and I want to make sure I do it all right. I'm already in love.

The pictures don't do it any justice, but I'll post them anyways.

I love the pattern down the back.

This last one is my favorite. It's just a tiny miniature of the larger model!

He's 7 inches long nose to tail. About the size of a mouse.

Baby beardies usually do better with a little bit higher heat (110-115 degrees basking) than the adults which it looks like most people around here use 105-ish for.

Rather than that, it sounds like you should be fine.

thanks! The breeder told me to make sure and get him(her?) a basking spot around 115 degrees, so I have that, and there's also a hiding spot that stays around 85.

So far he seems to be doing ok. He only ate 2 crickets yesterday and 4 today, but he still seems to be acclimating so I'm not worried about that yet. Today he showed a lot more signs of settling in, like claiming a few favorite "spots" in his tank, and spending some quality time basking. He also really seems to feel secure when handled. As soon as he gets just a little frightened he scrambles up onto my shoulder, like I'm a security blanket. But for the most part I'm leaving him be and letting him get used to his enclosure so he knows he's safe here.

He showed off some of his trademark blood red colors today, right up around his neck. It was exciting.
