Hello, I love the lizards and had them all my life and Im thinking of going into the newt/salamander thing. I just have some questions.(I had a fire belly like 5 years ago that lives a good 6 years) but I dont know anything now.

1. How many Fire Belly's can I keep in a 5 or 10 gal tank?(do males fight if its even easy to find male from female?)

2. They eat blood worms right? What else do they eat that may be easyer?

3. Can I give the little guys like half land and half water?(All I have before was a little rock is the middle of the water)

4. Can I put moss in the land part of the tank, like the tanks that Dart Frogs Live in?

5. What is the main diff. between Newts and Salamanders?

Realy sorry to bother you all, just got to know this stuff. Thank you so much, Austin

animals are usually overcrowded at stores...
the general rule of thumb, i think, is that for each six inch land animal, u need 10 gallons. So, u generally cant put 10 animals in a 10 gallon tank. you need to consider the roaming area; factors such as the amount land and water volume, and also how much land surface area, which includes surfaces of plants and the tank, for climbing animals.

if ur really concerned, u need to think about how crowded these animals are in the wild, and the odds are, that most of the time, they arent crowded at all.
