That hybrid topic...

TraceH Jan 22, 2004 09:04 PM

I am sure this topic has been brought up numerous times on this forum. Can Eastern hogs and Western hogs be hybridized successfully? What about tri-coloreds (Lystrophis) with Westerns? Thanks.

the consensus is yes for an east and west. Trouble is noone knows anyone who has done it.
There were 2 agreed outcomes:
1) a nice looking hybrid that can be converted to mice easily or
2) an ugly animal with a bad attitude.

I don't think anyone has tried a Lystrophis cross, but I somehow really doubt that would work. If it did work, I don't think it could help but be uglier than both the parents. (I tend to say that about most hybrids, but not all of them)
