A few quick questions...

fcwegnm0 Jan 22, 2004 11:25 PM

I'm still considering getting a tegu from Agama International.... but the youngest ones he has are July '02 juvies.... is this too old to get her to not be agrerssive and such? I'd prefer a '03 baby......

About a cage... I live in the North East so she'll be kept indoors all year. I'm thinking about building my own cage... a 4x8 sheet a plywood on the bottom, a frame made out of 2x4's, and another (thicker) 4x8 sheet of plywood on the top, with 2 or 4 2x4 pieces supporting the top (I plan on putting a tv and all that stuff on top of this) with 2 doors on 2 of the sides. I'm not sure how high to make it. How much substrate is recommended? Then probly 2 to 2.5 feet above that would be the top of it. 4 foot flourescent fixture, one regular bulb and one ReptiSun 5.0. One or two big flat rocks with a regular incandescent bulb directed at the pad for a nice basking spot. A moist hide made out of one of those storage tubs you can get at Walmart for $5. What's everyones opinion on the best substrate? Possibly a shelf for another hide spot, etc, and of course a big water bowl.

How does that all sound?

Any and all comments welcome, Dave

It's never to late. it just takes time and patience.

My setup is outdoors but I will try to help. My cages are 8'x8' with cypress mulch bottom 12-18" deep. They also have stuff to climb on and a cave to hide in. High humidity is important.

puting speakers near the cage may cause a problem as they will feel the vibrations and it may disturb their sleep habits.

If I can answer anything else let me know
