Stuck with stains on my tank that housed an adult slider.

I have an old 20 gallon tank that housed an adult slider.Does anyone kno how to get off the calcium deposits or white scratchy lookin stains off the tank walls.It makes the tank look real ugly.Im plannin on using it for the two baby sliders im plannin to get.If anyone can help me i'd appreciate it !

I've never had anything on a tank that vinegar couldn't get off. And I've had that purple saltwater algae stuff to clean off. I dilute the vinegar in water in a non-scientific matter and just spray it on. The big plus side is that it's completely non toxic, and if you put low pH animals in the tank you don't even have to wash it out .

so u just mix nivegar wit water and apply it then wipe it with a rag or some sort ?

Greetings,

Yes, Vinegar works well. You might try a little salt or salty water and a good stiff brush. Sprinkle it on and wait a few minutes for it to soak in. Then scrub away. Careful not to scratch the glass.

You can also scrape it off with a razor blade, vinegar never seems to work for me for some reason.
