Injured U.phantasticus.

juksu Jan 23, 2004 05:51 AM

Yesterday I was checing out my Uroplatus phantasticus vivarium and noticed somethign very strange.
When i look closer I noticed that the females lower jaw was rotated 90 and even more degrees and it can't get it back right. I think the chin is broken and it would be very difficult to fix.

So. Have enybody ever hapened something like this ?
Is it just an hunting accident (because they attack by leaping towards to prey) ??.

Theres some pics..

thats a shame, I always worry with the henkeli too, the way they just slam down .
I used to have plant pot and a log on botto, everything to look cool. But when I first got my male and saw how they dive, and with force, I removed everything off the bottom.

Just limbs to climb, from up top, and one plastic shallow lid with water.

Bottom is left open for diving down.
Sure hope your little guy can be helped, let us all know how he does !

It was in very bad shape earlier this week it couldn't even stand on it's feet properly. Seeing a wet was not in option because here vere I live has no wet's specialized in reptiles.
So I finnished it couble of days ago.

aww, I'm sorry to hear this

I had that happen with my female crocodile gecko. Fortunatly there's an exotic animal vet close to my house and they fixed her It was a bit funny to see her walk around with a "cast" made by a popsicle stick and held on with surgery tapes, lol

I had to go to the vet every two days to get her calcium and nutrience shots. She healed after a couple of weeks, and was back on crickets I still don't know what happened, though.

Do you have any idea what caused the injury in your gecko?
