Dave,

I'm no expert either but here's the dirt on why a photo appears a certain size on the screen. Most everybody's screen displays at 72DPI, a 17 screen is about 1024 wide by 768 high.. when you print a big photo-file (3-4MB) inches are inches and it doesn't matter if the resolution or density is 300DPI, 1200DPI or whatever (actually the higher the DPI the better, for printing) but when you display a file that is, as an example, 300DPI, each inch of the photo file takes up just over 4" on the screen.

The easiest way to overcome this technical puzzle is to set your camera so it takes smaller files, most have a setting that is 1024x768, or it might say WEB, WEB-Large, or WEB-Small, if it gives you file-size in pixels 600X1200 or whatever, just divide the numbers by 72 and that will give you the size of youir image on an average screen.

If you send a WEB-Large pic to Kingsnake it will automatically make two files, a big one and a smaller one. But that's about all K-snake will do. Some photo hosts give you a utility to resize, crop or edit photos, Kingsnake doesn't. So you have to have a program or utillity of your own (IE: Adobe, but there are other less complicated programs).. maybe the newest PictureViewer will let you save images at different sizes, someone else here can help you with that or info on where to get a free editor.

Hope this helps,

Gus

Okay, here is the easiest way to resize your pic Dave. And it doesn't require downloading anything your computer shouldn't already have.

Okay open your picture in Paint, Now, when you picture opens in paint on the top row you have several buttons.

File Edit View Image Colors Help
When you click on image the following options will be available
flip/rotate, stretch/skew, invert colors, Attributes, Clear image, Draw opaque.
Click on stretch skew.
That will open a small window which contains the following information
The top part of the box will have stretch, and have two boxes you can type info into one says Horizontal, the other says vertical. Now all you have to do is type in 50 in each box and it will cut the picture size in half.

Give it a try and let us know how ya did.
