The issue with breeding and mixing morphs!

UpStateNYHERPER1 Jan 23, 2004 11:10 AM

If you were to really think about what I said in my last post instead of trying to be high and mighty you would see that I was trying to explain that as much as i dont think that the idea of breeding morphs ect.... and screwing with the pureness of the trade and species is a good thing. I would still be interested in what has come of it. It is no doubt an interesting topic. And if there is someting that you dont agree with wich i dont like mixing and breeding these frogs it would be good to have some real examples to learn from. I know how hated the idea of it was so i wanted to hear some storys.
And I have been collecting and studying the native herps from my part of the country since i could walk. I am not just some new fool at this killing frogs and bothering hobbyists. Its just now over the past four months ive decided to get into darts and ive been doing days and days of research and lurking on this board for a long time. And I agree it sux that people new to message boards dont know how to search for topics. All you need is one simple post to tell them to use the search. I dont want to start any trouble I just think that some people were jumping to comclusions before thinking thjings out.

All I was looking for were some storys on how some mixed eggs turned out.

I can understand your dilemna - here's a link to a very 'infamous' and recent thread that tore the subjet apart and also brought out ALL the wild critters among the dart lovers. It's interesting to read, plus some pix. http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=305286,305286

Also check out vivaria.nl frogs for sale. The D. tinctorius "acrya". Not sure on this one but looks suspiciously like tinc x azuerus. I could be wrong on this one though.

I may have been a bit harsh in my past posts, and I apologize for that, but this topic will just not die.

Now I have not mixed myself, and never plan to, but from what i have read and seen, the mixed frogs do not do well. Most look much worse than the parents, and some do not even live very long. So my thinking is not only do the people in the hobby frown on it, but it is does not seem like even works to begin with.

Does anyone else wonder about the larger aratus that have been popping up? Could they have been a mix? I know there have been talks on a few of the tinc morphs being possible mixes.
