I've been trying to find a captive bred papuan python for quite some time now with no luck. I've noticed a few people on these boards talking about current breeding projects. Does anybody have any available animals or any that are due in the near future?

Yeah...there are quite a few people- just looking at sales from different importers I've been in contact with, after a lull for a few years last year saw a lot of imports. However, there haven't been CB animals available in a large quantity, ever. Currently, there are none I know of, though a few folks have succeeded in the last few years. This spring
NERD (they have a breeding group) along with Frank K. (who posts on here) may have clutches. There are a some other folks working on it- me personally, these remain my favorite python, though my pair will not be ready until fall 2005, at the earliest. I would get in touch with the above mentioned folks, (and there are others, though I'm not sure who) as the spring arrives. I'm right with you in wanting some CB animals, and I hope I'm able to acquire some this year.

male. One of the females is also proven. They are currently together and I have witnessed many copulations. This never seems to be a problem with the Papuans. They copulate often but getting your female to ovulate and lay eggs seems to be the tricky part for most breeders. I saw a post here that indicated someone had acquired an '03 captive bred papuan from someone named O'Sheilds I think. Maybe you could track them down and see if their are any more available. I think NERD is also trying to get their Papuans to go this year so with any luck come spring or early summer there will be some good news on Papuan projects. I bought that female CB female from Mr. O'sheilds. He did not have anymore, but if he has some this year, I am sure he will post them on the Kingsnake Classified's. Thats where I found this one.
