How hot is to hot for ATB's

psychoninja Jan 23, 2004 11:15 PM

I recently got 2 ATB's, snakes that i have been look at for quite some time. In order to keep them in the best health I can i also got a temp gauge with a probe so i can get accurate readings from the whole tank. On average my tank ranges from 85 Hi to 79 low ambiant temp. However the way i have the tank set up is one of the perches directly under the heat lamp can get as high as 95 during the day. I have been under the impression that a snake will regulate its own internal temp so i am not to worried when my ATB's sit directly under the lamps, i just wanted to check with you all just to make sure. I have loved these snakes for a long time and dont want to mess anything up, i mean you cant go wrong with getting 2 CBB ATB's for 100$ total. thanks for the help.

The temps sound about right but make sure you raise them in feb. Basking should be in the 90's and cold spot in the 80's durring the day. You should also consider a ProProducts heating pannel. The animals cant burn them selfs on it and think of all the money you will save in bulbs!!!plus it has a 10 year warrenty. Put that with a big apple night drop proportional thermostat and you have the best way to control temp since nature invented the solar system.
All in all just keep humidity high and the animals warm and they should be just fine..
