Is sand okay to use?

snake_love Jan 24, 2004 10:04 AM

I would like to use either Zoomed's Reptisand, or T-rex's Bone-aid calci sand in my ball python's enclosure. However, I am worried about impaction or respiratory infection. What do you guys think?

DONT USE SAND...

with the humidity you need to keep the balls happy the sand will stick to everything...

I agree - no sand.

good choices: newspaper, repti-carpet, lizard liner, repti-bark, cypress mulch, carefresh....that's all I can think of right now.

remember, if using a loose substrate you will have to feed outside the cage/tank.

Sand is for beaches. For people its nice on the feet. For snakes its more of an irritant and cause become a problem if feeding in the cage.
NO SAND!!!
