Outdoor setup? Grass?

beardie_br0z Jun 06, 2003 04:11 PM

Its getting warm enough for me to take my dragons outside. I want to make a basic setup in my backyard. Im only going to make a square using 4 pieces of wood(any other idea that would be better?). Should I put a bottom to it and put sand down?(I would rather not) Or should I just leave it open with the grass for the bottom? Is it ok if they eat a little bit of grass(how about alot?)

Grass bottom is fine as long as it doesn't have any pesticides....you should make a screen top to keep out predators.....remember that beardies are diggers and they could dig out if you're not careful, I would submerge the sides into the ground several inches to help prevent that.....give them plenty of shade and your all set.

DEFINATLY keep surrounded. Any larger animals can kill it. And make sure that you keep any bugs that are known to be poisioness to beardies away from the cages. You don't want to put him outside turn your head and look back at him squirming. It's not a pretty site. And remember, it's always good to give your beardie real sunlight, but don't leave him unattended much or not any time of the day. seconds can ruin years of work.
