Weight loss during fasting

bloodycats Jan 24, 2004 02:56 PM

My female 02 has been off feed for a couple months. She has lost 20 grams. I don't think it's a big deal at all and she's healthy in every way. I was just wondering how much weight loss during a fast should be considered a problem. Obviously, 20 grams is nothing- it was probably feces or urates. I weigh all of my BPs about once a month and was just curious about the weight they can lose during the winter months. This is my second winter with BPs and luckily the rest of mine are still feeding vigorously. I'm anxiously awaiting the time my female will come around, because at 1230g now I'm sure I can get her more than ready for the 04-05 breeding season.

Mine has been fasting for about 10 weeks and after 8 weeks actually gained 7 grams but has lost 4 of those in the last two weeks. My ball is 324grams, though and maybe that's why he actually gained a little. You know, since maybe he's still growing a little faster than yours?

I think 20grams is about 1-2% so I wouldn't think that would be a big deal. On the other hand this is my first snake too. Guess I just think it's cool he actually gained weight and wanted to talk about it .
