Help with baby veiled

anthonyd Jan 24, 2004 04:54 PM

I bought 2 baby female veileds last month to extend my breeding group. They are both doing great (have nearly doubled in size) accept one is constantly stessed. It eats more that the other juvanile, and it growing faster, but it always seems a little out if it. She stesses about everyting. I have found her on the bottom of the tank, all brown and curled up twice. I thought she was dead both times, but I picked her up and she was alive and set her back in her tree, and she started wandering around like nothing ever happened. But every time I open she cage to feed or to clean (which is every day, she goes crazy and jumps out of her tree and runs into the sides of the tank, and turns a very odd brown. None of my other veileds have done this. Have any ideas or words of wisdom? Thanks in advace.

when you say "tank" do you mean glass aquarium, if so that is your problem. their reflection, stale air , to much humidity all cause stress. also are they together?

Yes, they are in a glass tank, but I never have had a problem before. They are in the same tank, but it is divided, so they can't see each other. This is just temporary until I can finish my other cage for my male, wich is all screen, and very large.

The obvious thing is to a)get them out ofg the glass tank and b)get them into separate cages immediately. But you probably knew that.
