Did you ever get those bulbs you were talking about? I followed divegods advice and got a 65 watt lights of america fluorescent security light for my imitator tank and it is great after 3 days the broms are all ready getting redder. The box says it's total brightness lumens are 8905 and its total photopic lumens are 4550. It is really easy to set up, get a medium duty extension cord and a grounding box and you have a really bright light for about 42 bucks. Plus it comes with a 6500 k bulb, and there is no hum because they have an electronic ballast. I like them so much I am probaly going to get two and put them on a brom raising tank.

I also ordered some, but have not received them yet. How many do you have over what size tank? I bought 2 to put over my 15H and wonder if it will be an overkill. I hope it is because I can use the other light somewhere else.

I have one over a vertical ten and the broms were green because I just had 2 18 inch daylight bulbs on there, but after three days the red is already coming back.I think one over a vertical 20 would be fine. I plan on putting 2 over a 20 gallon long. I am pretty sure that 2 over a 15h would be way overkill, I kinda think that one over a vertical ten is aliitle overkill but I want the broms to grow great so hopefully my imitators will start breeding. Plus with 2 you will probably have problems with heat, when I make the brom raising tank I will probably remove the ballast and mout them away from the tank just to keep down the heat. These are great lights and there cheaper than compacts from ahsupply. I am going to order some though to compare growth and which ever one does best is going over my pumilio tank.

Sounds good, I have not made up my mind yet, I am hoping to get another tank going soon, and then try it. I am still looking for one local. I have a couple more stores to check.

How much is the light heating up your tank?
What is your out side temp and inside temps both at the top of the tank and at the bottom?
I am very interested, because to see color change that fast is unreal.

Thanks,
Benjamin

It is staying between 75 and 77, the outside temp is 72. But I do have the light an inch above the tank.
