PLEASE HELP!!!...I've got a wierd problem here.

restlesswind444 Jan 24, 2004 07:34 PM

I picked up this little hottie about 3 months ago. She's doing fine otherwise, eats like crazy, and is lookin good. But there's one problem that ive noticed. Ever since i recieved her there had been these sort of bubbles under and around her front legs (where they attach to her body) I have emailed the breeder (who's name i wont mention) twice before concerning this but never got a response. I know how mailboxes can get quite flooded at times so i understand. Anyway, time to consult my kingsnake cohorts! I never thought much of it since it just seemed like fatty tissue or something. But recently they have started increasing in size, and just the other night i had her out and she was letting me examine her. She lets me touch them no problem and they dont apear to cause her any pain whatsoever, but most oddly i'm almost completely positive that they're filled with air!!! What do i do? could this be some kind of genetic defect? respiratory disorder? they seem to be inflating fast and i have never seen anything like this before. I'm concerned for her and i dont want anything to happen...please let me know what i should do...i have attached pictures so that u may see what i am talking about. Finally i had planned on putting her in with my jungle albino male tomorrow when i got back up to school (bought them a new enclosure and everything) since they are both ready to breed and coming out of cooling, but i dont want to breed a gecko that may have a genetic defect, what should i do?!?!?!?
Thanks for ur time and patience,
Chris

They are just fat bubbles. Signs of being well-fed.

are u sure? like i said...im 99% positive that they're filled with air (or some kind of gas)...also i forgot to mention that for some reason i had a real hard time geting a good shot w/ the digicam but thery are much bigger in real life than they look on the pics...sorry if im being redundant i'm just concerned
thanks once again,

I dont think the sacks are a problem. My very healthy breeder females all have the same puffy sacks. Its another way they store fat other than their tails.

& I was told that he was to fat & should go on a diet.. It´s just as dangerous for the animals as it is for us to be overweight..

Can these fat pockets form on the bottom side of the gecko at the base of the tail?
