HELP PLS --Mr Jeeves has escaped, and i can't find him ANYWHERE -- Suggestions?

lindsay78 Jan 24, 2004 08:57 PM

I'm a wreck!
What kind of terrible mother am i??????
My boy has escaped out of his tank, and I can't find him ANYWHERE. I have a small one bedroom apartment, and my boyfriend and I have been looking for the past hour --EVERYWHERE.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lure him out?

I'm on the verge of tears.
All I can do is invision the 'lost hamster' scenario --lost pet, found a year later when moving.

HELP.
Please.

Well, if your apartment is on the "cool side" look under and around anything that gives off warmth (PC, stove, fridge, etc) 99% of the time you will find your beardie in the same room where his tank / cage is kept. Good hiding places are under the couch, bookcases, etc.

I wish you luck!

In the morning, place a dish of food in the middle of each room LOL Maybe you will catch him when he comes out for a snack!

What Lisa said and set-up a basking spot where he could get to it......he will seek it out to warm up hopefully.

yea...try the food on the floor and the basking light so he can go warm up.....beardies love sleeping under nice warm blankets....watch when u get into bed...also convient spots include behind the toilet under the bed/couch, piles of nice warm cloths and anywhere warm....like driers pc fridge etc....

i wish u luck

I woulkd look underneath couches nearby, or any otrher dark places. This time of year my guy likes to cave up under a lamp stand or in a corner where it is dark and go right to sleep even in the middle of the day. Also look in the sides of couches, my guy will hang on and go right to sleep hanging staight up vertical. They are wierd critters and can sleep in places we can't even imagine being comfortable.
Take it easy and calm down, he is likely quite alright and comfy wherever he is hiding. Be slow and methodical and you will find him. Set up a basking spot in the middle of the floor tomorrow if you haven't found him yet and he will likely be drawn to the heat.

Good luck,

QB

look inside not just under your sofa and chairs. they are good at climbing into things. warm places are a first choice. If all else fails, an old snake trick is to sprinkle baby powder or flower on the floor and watch for footprints.

be hiding. I'd split them into two pieces, though in case your beardie thinks a plastic bag would be a good thing to get into. If he walks on the bag you'll hear it.

Good luck!!
