Under stuff, behind stuff, somewhere warm...

Ok, first calm down a little. Geckos can survive for a long time. They will usually go to someplace warm and dark. If it just escaped fence off any area so you have a smaller area to search. Put out little hides, and you also might want to put heat lamps over them. This will attract your leo. Put out as many as you can and check them alot. Also put out dishes of mealworms and water in certain spots. You might catch your leo coming out for a snack. Also, i've heard that if you lay out aluminum foil, you will be able to hear if your leo comes out on it. I dont know if thats true or not but you could try it. Put mealworms near dark warm places that she could possibly be, and also in front of your hides. Check frequently. Remember, your probably not going to be able to spot her unless she comes out into the open. There is just too many places that she could be hiding. There is a very good possibility she will go into a familiar hide if she sees it. Good luck and i hope you find him soon.

You can also sprinkle flour around the dishes to see if it had visitors while you slept, same goes for door openings if you cant close them.

I wouldn't worry too much.

I have had geckos escape numerous times and found them all in fine condition, eventually. I had one lost for 5 months in the dead of winter, found her down starirs from where she escaped, in the kitchen. I think she was living under the stove or fridge for heat.

My best tip: look around your house in the middle of night- like 12 midnight to 3am. That's when they are most likely to be found, in my experience.

Thank you for your help everyone! I found Mustard downstairs in the bathroom. She is nice and warm and has a full belly right now. Apparently she enjoyed her little "out of cage" experiance.lol

Now, just wondering, how did she escape?

herpdude459 Jan 25, 2004 07:52 PM

Im not quite sure to tell you the truth... I believe that she climbed on top of her hide box and escaped through a small opening in the terrarium lid. ( the opening is now secured).
