Losing colour

Can leos lose colour over time? I think me leo is bleaching out his tail. Either that or I never noticed before that his tail wasnt quite yellow. Its probably the latter. LOL

Leos can dramatically change colors during their lifetime, and some stay similar.

For instance patternless leos start out spotted but lost them over time.

Yes, geckos can change like that during the course of growing to adulthood, but also things like temperature, substrate color, health, and breeding status can contribute to color changes.

Leos can change color over time, but there are two other things you shgould consider:

1) Leos that are sick, stressed, not getting enough vitamins, or cold can get duller/darker-colored and actually lose pigment (especially yellows/oranges). You do need to supplement your leo with vitamins, once or twice a week dusted on food should be adequate.

2) Leos can look lighter when they are in pre-shed. I have had several "DOH!" moments when I have been surprised at a leos appearance and color change (e.g. tail colors fading, body colors muted), only to see them in obvious pre-shed a couple od days later. But these are more suddden changes.
