I think it may depend on the size of the enclosure and the overall personality of your 5yr old. When I introduced a male to my female (3yrs), they just did a lot of licking and that night the male tried to bite on her tail and she let him know it wasnt appreciated. Ever since then they've been laying on top of each other and have gotten along just fine. So I guess it depends from gecko to gecko. Best of luck.

1.5 Leopard Gecko Colony
First off. Any animal that you get, no matter how reputable the breeder is, must be quarentined for at least 3 months. Each individual in it's own cage. Then, if you were to put them all together at the same time, you'd have to get an appropriate sized tank (4 leos could easily fit in a...maybe....20L. Safer to be in a 40Gallon Breeder). Then you'd need a lot of hides. After that youd need all the other basics (water dishs, food dishs, UTH's, substarte (nongranular)). You'd also want to try to add them all in at once. Make sure they are all around the same size (weight - atleast 5 grams difference). What else............Oh yeah, the older the female the less the amount of eggs she produces. Same goes with the younger the female is.
Also, keep in mind that a female will lay several "duds" when they are first bred. Don't get discouraged by this. My female has dropped 3/4 duds this season. And has another clutch soon to be layed.
The most important key to breeding these guys is... Have fun.

what exactly is a "breeder" tank? what is different about it than a regular tank?
To my understanding it has more "Floor space", although I don't know if that is true or not...Just ask at the Petstore to see a 40 Gallon, and then a 40 Gallon "Breeder".
