few questions.

hi

1. i use a 100 watt uv light during the day, and that gets about 85-90 degrees, and then at night i switch to a 100 watt red heat lamp, and that gets to be about80-85 degrees (i guess because its a litle cooler at night).

2. i use paper towels at the bottom of my cage for my gecko. but i noticed that some of the crickets were hiding under the paper towels. has anyone had this problem? any solutions?

3. babysshould eat atleast 5 crickets a day right? maybe a little more?

4. i just got my gecko yesterday, and i was wondering how much time i should leave it alone before holding it.

thank you very much-i highly appreciate it.

OK firstly if i were you i would use an under tank heater attached to a thermostat. Leo's need belly heat to digest there food properly, this maybe why he isnt eating. If ur leo hasn't eaten all the crickets that u have put in id take them out and try again maybe a day l8r, i use paper towels and i have no problem. Normally leo's won't eat until a couple of days after they have settled into there new home, just be patient eventually when he's happy he will start eating. Also the same about handling him/her just give em time to settle in.Let me know how u get on ok.Gilbery007

Sounds like you have the cricket/eating problem under control. So i'm just offering advice about the handling question. If you just got your gecko, you shouldnt be handling it yer. (I'm not saying that you are) It will be up to your judgement on when to begin. If your leo starts coming out after a couple of days, then you will be able to begin soon. But if you have a little bit more of a skittish gecko, give it more time to settle in. With all my geckos, i waited till they were comfertable coming out, even with me standing at the tank. Then just offer your hand. I would wait till they walk on instead of grasping. Grasping them will scare them and they will lose all, if any, trust that they have in you. Hope this helps.
