needing info on Green Tree skinks (Lamprolepis smaragdina)

sigbboy Jan 25, 2004 10:35 AM

Hi--- I am in need of finding a place where I can buy a somewhat large amount of these skinks to start a breeding colony. I have a article from Reptiles magazine on the care and breeding of these skinks so I'm ok there. Can these be bought reasonable? I assume most will be wild caught and I have no problems with this. If anyone can help me get this project off the ground that would be great! Thanks alot Randy

I assume by the presence of Tree in the common name that they need a vertically oriented cage...I don't know anything about them, other than the best site I've found for them is in German!! Maybe they are from that area?
Either way, good call getting some- those are nice looking!

Hi,
I did some research a while back on Tree Skinks because I too was interested in them. I found some CH ones, so once in a great while there are babies offered if you look in the right places. Most of the babies you'll find will be born from mothers who were brought over gravid/pregnant. They are next to impossible to keep alive though, but good luck, sounds challenging.

Yes, they might be a little difficult. They are native to some Asian countries, and the Pacific Islands Area-- I saw some for sale somewhere, I just cant remember where Randy
