Well, I don't have frogs yet, but I did just finish a tank for them.

The background is "Great Stuff" before I put the coco bedding on it. I used a knife and Dremel tool to carve it. It also has driftwood embedded in it.

The white squares on the bottom is eggcrate before I put the gravel on it. It sits on pieces of PVC pipe about an inch and a half off the bottom of the tank. There is a cut-out on the front right for the pool of water and a small cut-out on the left rear with a pump in it (you can just make the pump out).
The hose from the pump runs through the background to the driftwood on the right where the water flows out and enters the pool.

I covered the entire bottom with fiberglass screening, including the pump, put some driftwood around the pool area to create a border, and added gravel. I also have a titanium heater under the eggcrate in the water to maintain a constant water temperature. (the photo of the finished tank is a couple of threads down)

From reading this forum and it's links I found that a dart frog tank can be done MANY different ways, from simple to extravagant. It's really up to the individual.

Hope this helps!

Here is a picture from underneath the tank. It shows the eggcrate on the PVC raised off the bottom one and a half inches. The pool is on the left. The silver tube is the titanium heater. The pump is on the upper right and out of view. I'ts filled with water and running. It's almost 2 gallons. The fiberglass screen is black and can be seen a little around the pool and through the eggcrate. It keeps all the gravel from falling into the water area. A little gravel fell in around the edges, not a problem though. It will help with the biological filtration.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add something about that last picture.

Notice that I cut the eggcrate short on the front of the tank, which is the bottom of the picture. I did this so I could loop the fiberglass screen into it, then fill with gravel. This holds the gravel in place and also hides the eggcrate from view. It looks much better this way.

Boy, I'm really warming up to this subject....
